His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Engr) Akeem Abimbola Owoade, was enthroned as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo on April 5, 2025, succeeding the 45th Alaafin, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi, who passed away on April 22, 2022, at the age of 83.
Born 50 years ago into the esteemed Owoade-Agunloye royal family in Oyo Town, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I hails from the Agure Compound. His educational background includes Secondary School education at Baptist High School, Saki, and Mechanical Engineering studies at Federal Polytechnic Ilaro and The Polytechnic, Ibadan.Oba Owoade’s professional journey spans various roles, including positions at Nigeria Gas Company, Oceanic Bank International Plc, and notable stints in the United Kingdom and Canada. He earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sunderland and Northumbria University and became a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) in 2015.
Before ascending to the throne, Oba Owoade served as Project Coordinator at Manitoba Hydro in Canada and was a successful entrepreneur, philanthropist, and President of Manitoba Limited, with a real estate investment and financial services business. He is happily married to Olori Abiwumi Owoade and has children.
