On behalf of HRM Oba Prof Saka Adelola Matemilola, FNSE Otileta VII Olowu Oluyalo of Owu Kingdom, Abeokuta, I’m honoured to speak about the remarkable life of Chief Dr Olatunde Ayinla Abudu, OFR. Through our interactions during various events, including a personality interview on NTA Abeokuta, a documentary on his life and times at 70 in 1999, and our collaboration on promoting reading culture, I’ve gained valuable insights into his character.SixthSense Initiative a registered nonprofit outfit hugely promoting children reading culture and human capacity development held the second edition at the Noebelhouse International College Abeokuta with his approval.
Notably, Chief Abudu’s life was marked by determination and resilience. Born in challenging circumstances at Saje in the Abudu Compound, he defied the odds and went on to achieve greatness. His commitment to education was evident in his academic qualifications, establishment of Egba Science programme, and Noebelhouse International College, Abeokuta.
As a scientist, businessman, industrialist, lawyer, and community leader, Chief Abudu’s impact was multifaceted. His 70th birthday celebration, which drew attention from across the region, was a testament to his influence. The event organised by his children featuring King Sunny Ade, was held at prominent venues, including prayers at his Ikeja residence and Muson Centre in Lagos. My interactions with Chief Abudu left me with a lasting impression of his values: service and integrity. He was a man of honour and industry, and his legacy continues to inspire.
The event was “An Evening of Tributes” in honour of Chief Olatunde Ayinla Abudu OFR organised by Abeokuta Club.
