The elders say that no harmattan lasts forever, and no rainy season refuses to give way to sunshine. The earth has its seasons, and so does life.
A wise person does not build a permanent house on temporary ground. He does not celebrate prosperity as though it will never fade, nor does he surrender to hardship as though dawn will never come.
The yam planted in the rainy season is not harvested on the same day. The river that swells with the rains will one day return to its banks. So it is with fortune and adversity—they are both visitors, not permanent residents.
Therefore, build your life on character, not on circumstances; on wisdom, not on wealth; on honour, not on applause. Character outlives seasons, and integrity does not wither with changing times.
When the season changes, only those whose roots are deep remain standing. The person who understands this walks with humility in abundance and with hope in adversity, knowing that every season has its purpose and every condition has its appointed end.
Do not build yourself around a temporary season. Build yourself around timeless values, for seasons pass, but character endures.
