The Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA, Ogun State Chapter has entered into a bilateral agreement with the authorities of Rockcity FM to promote literacy and reading.
The decision was taken on Wednesday when Executive Members of Ogun ANA led by the State Chairman, Chief Abiodun Lasile, paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer of Rockcity F.M., Dr. Niran Malaolu.
Chief Lasile, who is also the Orunto of Owu Kingdom, congratulated Rockcity FM for being the first private radio station in Abeokuta which also pioneered the first newspaper.
He commended the station for promptly informing, educating, entertaining and enlightening citizens through innovative programmes as well as giving citizens the platform to express their feelings.
Welcoming the Ogun ANA executives, Dr. Niran Malaolu, informed them of his plan to establish a writers’ hub at the Broadcasting House of Rockcity FM where transformative ideas for development would be incubated.
He confessed that since his mother introduced him to reading he had always had passion for writers adding that though he had only published one book, he had many unwritten books in his head.
He opined that the Nigerian society was not doing enough to encourage young people to read and recommended the Sweden Nokia example as recipe for boosting reading and development.

He challenged members of Ogun ANA to design a programme that would encourage and inspire young ones to think, write and make the society better than they met it.
Quoting Graham Greene’s book The Man Within, Dr. Malaolu said everybody had one or two books unwritten in the course of navigating the vagaries of life.
