I still remember the day I stumbled upon a group of children huddled around a worn-out book in a dusty corner of our community centre in Orunto village. Their eyes sparkled with curiosity as they took turns reading aloud, their voices filled with wonder. It was then that I realised the transformative power of reading.
Years later, I founded the SixthSense Summer Children Reading Camp (SCRC), driven by a passion to ignite this same spark in young minds across our nation. But I knew that SCRC had to be more than just a common summer camp – it had to be a movement.That’s why I stress that SCRC is not just a casual gathering; it’s a deliberate effort to promote a vibrant Children Reading Culture. We’re not just teaching children to read; we’re raising Reading Leaders who will drive national development.
I recall a participant, Amoke, who struggled to read at first but blossomed into a confident leader, inspiring her peers with her newfound love for literature. Her story is a testament to the impact of SCRC. We have so many stories to tell!
So, let’s not make mistakes or misconstrue our purpose. SCRC is a catalyst for change, a beacon of hope for a brighter future. We’re not just shaping readers;
we’re shaping leaders who will transform our nation, one page at a time.
we’re shaping leaders who will transform our nation, one page at a time.Behold, our pillars numerous; HRM Oba Dr Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, Prof Wole Soyinka and many more
Let us do it together, please join us in the crusade!
